Unreconciled
In this artist’s book, I attempt to reconcile two versions of myself: the person I was before understanding my brain’s wiring and the person who has emerged since that discovery. The book examines the complex emotions that accompany receiving an ADHD diagnosis later in life.
The diagnosis answered many of the questions I asked about myself and my behavior most of my life. On the other hand, it left me frustrated, questioning my identity and wondering who I might have been had I known this sooner.
The book pairs text with a continuous black line that traces the ups, downs, and confusion of thought and feeling, layered over background imagery inspired by brain scans from an ADHD research study conducted at the University of Zurich.
